Volunteers help monitor the park's bluebird cavity nesting trail.
Responsibilities include:
- Weekly check of 25 bluebird boxes - 2-3 hours per week April - August
- Recording species, nest activity, and fledgling counts
- Consolidating data at the end of the season and turning it into park staff
- Possibly cleaning and repairing boxes as needed
Best For:
- Volunteers comfortable working in the outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Volunteers comfortable walking through high vegetation in the Jennings Prairie and other park locations
- Having prior knowledge of nest ID and monitoring is helpful but not required
