Volunteer: Litter and Refuse Removal

Volunteers help care for Bald Eagle State Park by removing litter and refuse along the park’s 17.6 miles of trails, park boundaries, and surrounding roadways. Cleanup efforts may also include fishing line removal to protect wildlife and maintain a safe, healthy environment for visitors. This work plays an important role in preserving the park’s natural resources, improving visitor safety, and keeping the park clean and welcoming for all.

Volunteer: Rustic Campground Host Candidate

Those interested in hosting in Bald Eagle State Park's Rustic Campground should apply here. Bald Eagle SP is a popular hosting park, so please be aware we can't accept all applicants. Once you apply, you will be entered onto a waitlist managed by the park's host coordinator. If there is an opening, you will be contacted and typically meet with park staff on a Teams video call or by phone to be sure this opportunity is a good fit, review your qualifications, and provide answers to any questions you might have.

Rustic Campground Hosts receive free camping, a UTV (for campground use only), a gas ration (for generator and UTV only), sewer hook-up, and water hook-up for the duration of their stay as a campground host. The host site does not have an electric hook-up and a generator is NOT provided.

Host duties include, but are not limited to: 

distributing and collecting camping permits for ~70 campsitesmaintaining campsite fire ringsacting as a liaison for park staff and Rustic Campground campersbeing a point of contact for camper questions and concernsNot required, but welcomed assistance with miscellaneous tasks (ex. weed-eating, maintaining bulletin boards, keeping trails open in the campground, changing empty toilet paper, etc.)

Hosts need to be accessible to help campers during key hours--especially weekends and evenings. All hosts must complete child clearances and submit them to the park to be considered for the opportunity.
